It has long been known that if you want to sell your property you should make sure that your garden is looking its best, it can be a very good selling point when it comes to marketing your property.

Outside space is not only very important to avid gardeners, but also with more people staying at home and entertaining guests, potential buyers are paying more attention to these areas.

You don't necessarily need a huge or formal garden to make a difference, even a small courtyard that is well laid out with the space well utilized can improve the sale-ability and value of your property. Therefore any money spent on landscaping your garden should be looked upon as an investment. Whether it is for your family and friends to enjoy socially or to enhance the sale of your property, it will be money well spent.

Peter Rollins, the chief executive of estate agents Marsh & Parsons, said in an article in The Telegraph, "A garden that has been landscaped can add value and a wow factor to a house".Click Here to read the full article.

  • Surely this is obvious? i know that when I was looking for a new property the garden played a hugely important part in my decision. I know you can and probably should look beyond the aesthetics of a house and garden but the thought of the upheaval of moving and then facing the daunting task of renovations and landscaping, not for me... no thank you, I would rather pay the extra on the cost and move in and enjoy!

  • Surely this is just common sense? If you visit a property that looks scruffy or untidy on the outside it would put you off going in to look at the house itself.
If you was selling a car you would at the very least give it a good clean and polish before putting it on the market wouldn't you!

  • Totally agree, I re-marketed my property after having the garden landscaped and it paid for itself 3 times over. Also the property had been on the market for about 6 months first time round.
After the garden revamp it sold on the second viewing at full asking price!

  • I can speak from first hand experience that this is the case. We could not sell our property for months no matter what improvements we made indoors. Yet once we called in professional gardeners it was a whole new story.
